Zero to Hero

There’s been a lot of chatter recently about a live-action Hercules and because this is one of my favorite Disney movies, I have some specific ideas about how this should be cast. Holla at me Disney! I got the recipe.

So here’s what I’m thinking

Hercules:

Considering voice, build, and looks I’m thinking Jelani Alladin (Hercules in Central Park), Jordan Fisher (RENT Live), or Zac Efron (You know the resume)

Megara:

Ariana Grande (I think she was born for this), Jude Demorest (great voice, great look, relatively unknown), or Maren Morris (Kiya suggested and I trust her opinion)

The Muses:

This casting is the most important if you ask me. If you can’t get the muses right, there’s no point in making the film. Looks, voice, and harmony are essential. It’s not about who’s popular, it’s about who’s going to kill Zero to Hero and A Star Is Born. Debate your friends. This is not a moment for J. Hud’s yelling or your favorite singer’s whispering.

So after careful debate and deliberation, I want Amber Riley (non-negotiable), Anika Noni Rose, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Heather Headley, and Audra McDonald. A perfect blend of stage greats and beautiful vocals.

Now that we’ve taken care of the roles that require a vocal, we can move on to the rest of the cast

Zeus: Laurence Fishburn (Morpheus need I say more) or Lance Reddick (The Wire, John Wick)

Hera: Vanessa Williams or Gina Torres

Hades: Jeff Goldblum (because duh) or Will Smith (has he ever played a villain? I wanna see that)

Phil: Danny Devito

Pain: Jordan Peele or Nick Kroll

Panic: Kegan-Michael Key or Jason Mantzoukas

The Fates: Tracee Ellis Ross, Debra Wilson, Cree Summer

And that’s the major cast of the film. Comment below if you have suggestions for roles other than the muses because they’re set in stone. I’m open to discussion on the smaller roles.
