MY UNTRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS IN HARLEM

Last year, I spent Christmas in St. Croix.  This year, I opted for Christmas in a winter wonderland, which I’m still happy about.

I spent most of the month thinking of presents to gift my family. I wanted to give thoughtful gifts that would carry into and lasts the entire year.

I knew it would’ve been a bit of a tough holiday for us because we would all be in different places geographically — aunts and cousins are back home (STX) rebuilding and others are in NC enjoying the calm of the cold.

The Christmas tree wasn’t completely done until the weekend before. My mom and I had different visions on what the tree should look like.

My cousin came to visit from Baltimore and so did my cousin from Florida.

Christmas Eve was untraditional. We didn’t spend the day wrapping gifts or prepping food like we usually would. I do commend us though — all gifts were wrapped by the morning of Christmas eve.

We took a look at Louis Vuitton’s VOLEZ, VOGUEZ, VOYAGEZ exhibit, pics below and went to The Boil for some seafood.

The night was spent opening gifts! Special shoutout to Santa — he brought me a watch, purse, outfits and a hefty Sephora gift card. I’m surprised and grateful that I still get actual gifts for Christmas.

Christmas Day began with a Soul Cycle class, whoa. It kicked my a$$ but I’m motivated to do more classes. The energy in the room was insane and the instructor continuously shouted out the first timers for pushing through. The experience in itself was worth all the pain my muscles are currently feeling.

Cycling class was followed with lunch at Republic. Once I finally got home and showered, dinner was still being prepared. I kid you not, I’ve never experienced ‘itis the way I did on Christmas Day. I fell asleep within an hour of eating. Only to wake up at 1am to a house in complete silence. I didn’t even finish telling everyone Merry Christmas. If you’re reading this, charge it to my head and not my heart.

The LV exhibit is live until 1.7.2018 if you’re interested in going. It’s free admission and you get a free LV pin before you depart.
