MONEY MATTERS

MONEY MATTERS.png

Freshwoman year of college I took a Personal Finance class. To my surprise, I got an A.

At that time, I didn’t have any personal finances to manage. Now that I do I often find myself revisiting things learned in that class.

Fast forward years later and I’m not quite satisfied with my personal finance. [Last month I mentioned one of my #topnine goals this year is to actually save money.]

I have what my mom would consider a “good job”. To an extent, I agree with her. I’m able to pay my bills and buy a decent pair of shoes here and there. Yet lately, I’ve been thinking of more.

More money, more resources, more experiences.

It’s apparent to me that most things I’ve obtained or accomplished came only because I’ve worked twice as hard. Pushing myself beyond limits set by others and myself. Pushing through gets extremely hard sometimes. I’ve recently found motivation in personal finance.

Beyond the monthly or bi-weekly paychecks, doing more to advance my personal finance is something I’ve incorporated into my weekly activities.

More for me means, doing better and sharing my resources and experience, through tech.

My coworker/friend created and shared a personal finance google doc with me that I used every paycheck to track my spending and saving. There’s a tab per month, formulas included, which makes my life so much better.

No matter what, spending will happen, right?! Duh. So because of this, I signed up with Dosh. Dosh is this super cool application on my iPhone that actually gives me cashback for shopping. All I had to do was link my debit card. Check it out for yourself, here.

I’m always at work and I don’t like to have a “scheduled” weekend. I end up shopping online often. Ebates has been around for quite some time yet I’m just getting into it. Smartest thing I’ve done this month! I just log-in to my account, search stores, and shop! Ebates activates cashback this way, and shopping is just the same as it would be had I typed in a website domain. They mail me a check to deposit into my bank account or transfer the funds to my PayPal. Check it out here.

My entrepreneurship journey began roughly a year ago and I’m excited to continue building a firm foundation to share with you.

For now, stocks, saving, and mastering #topnine is where I’m at with it.
