What's "Work"?
Over the years, “what I want to be when I grow up” has changed many times. But what’s remained the same is my desire to create unforgettable experiences – a vibe you can’t get anywhere else.
I currently work at a charter school in East Harlem (that’s about to change, we’ll talk about that later). I plan very structured field trips, and family events. I do enjoy working with children and I enjoy planning events.
I’m currently responsible for creating a “community”, a culture if you wish..
My job has taught me how necessary our communities need us, all of us; to play an active role in ensuring its longevity. I’m not exactly sure what we’re supposed to be doing, how far we are supposed to take it.. But, I am sure we all have ideas, dreams, goals, things we’re afraid of doing, creating. I think we should start there.. So, that’s what I’m doing, starting there.
Here’s what’s up first:
Some of my friends have heard me talk about starting a book club, and I’m finally doing so. If you’d like to join #becausebooksarebetter, sign up here! There's plenty of time in the day for us to get a few pages in - on the subway or in the Uber, waiting at the doctor's office, before bed. My favorite is on the way to work in the morning.
There are so many ideas brewing in my head, and I’m excited to continue sharing them with you!
