A Song For You
Music wakes me up every morning and gets me through every day. There is always a song in my heart. Because music is such an important part of my life, I'd like to share with you the songs and lyrics that have been stuck in my head this week.
1. Corinne Bailey Rae - "High". This is one of my favorites from her newest studio album.
"Now that you're mine. I'm staying quiet. 'Cause my words are useless. They only confuse me. So why even try when it's so right. And I don't wanna break the spell."
2. Amel Larrieux - "Shine". Always stuck in my head. I have lyrics from this song all over my home and at my desk at work.
"I've made some decisions detrimental to my life. Put my trust in some translucent people now I see through them just fine. I've come back to the real world. Put my bitterness behind. Cuz revenge is not as sweet as my freedom and no one's taking mine."
3. Kelly Rowland - "Turn It Up". I have my reasons lol.
4. Vanessa Marquez - "Good Girl". It's from The Neptunes Presents... Clones album. Get into that entire album.
5. Chante Moore - "Listen To My Song". This came on in the car the other day and I remembered that I used to sing this song in the shower every day in undergrad. I love Chante Moore.
6. Loon - "Down For Me (ft. Mario Winans)". Where is Loon?? Serious question. He had some hits.
"I want a woman that'll show me things. Someone to fulfill my dreams. Settle down with, be my queen. She's the only one for me."
7. Alicia Keys - "In Common". Alicia doesn't have many fans these days, but this is a good song. I'd like to spend a few hours in the Dean home just to witness the artistic genius. Even the kids are playing piano and making beats in the studio. It's dope.
"We used to talk til midnight. All those days that you stayed at my house. We were just passing the time. We were young and we ain't had no vows."
8. Patti LaBelle - "Love, Need, and Want You". Because my mom called me singing this the other day. When I was a toddler, like 2 max lol, I used to sing this and "Somebody Loves You Baby (You Know Who It Is) to my mom and grandma constantly. I have an old soul. I've been here before.
